Ghostface from "Scream" Free Crochet Tapestry Pattern

This is a small tapestry that I used to make a bag! I was inspired by a similar bag I'd seen on Pinterest, and I wish I could remember it so that I could credit the inspiration but alas, it has been many many moons since I made this tapestry lol.

It's fun and I get lots of compliments when I use this bag! People are always impressed when I tell them I made it!

This tapestry is done in single crochet, but if you wanted to make it bigger you could use half double crochet or double crochet.

For the bag, simply chain the length of the tapestry (depending on which stitch you use this number is subject to change), then single crochet in the round without increasing until you have made it the entire size of the tapestry. I switched colors halfway but you could also do a solid color or stripes or however you want! I use single crochet so that the holes are very minimal and I don't need a liner, but if you use hdc or dc you may need to sew a fabric liner on the inside.

To attach the pieces, hold the bag and the tapestry "right sides" together, slipknot around your hook and insert into the top right stitch of the tapestry AND the top right stitch of the bag. Single crochet across inserting your hook through both the tapestry and the bag. Tie it off when you've reached the end.

For the strap, start on one side of the bag where the strap will be attached. Slip stitch into one of the stitches, and dc 4-10 stitches across depending on how big you want the strap, chain 3, repeat, until the strap is long enough, then slip stitch into the stitches on the opposite side of the bag.

The border is called the leaf stitch.

Start in a corner. The first round is made up of V-stitches. Make a slipknot and join in any corner.

Round 1: ch3. ch1 then dc in same st. ch2. dc in same st. ch 1. dc in same st.

*sk 2. dc in 3rd st. ch1. dc in same st.* Repeat until you get in the corners where you will add two V-stitches with a ch2 in the middle of them.

slst in first ch3 to join the round.

Round 2: slst in 1st ch1 in corner. ch3(counts as a dc) dc5 in same space. dc4 in ch2 sp. ch3. slst into the base of the ch3. dc4 into ch2 sp. dc6 into ch1 sp. (this ends the corner)

*sc into next ch1 sp. dc4 into next c1 sp. ch3. sl st into base of ch3. dc4 into same sp.* Repeat until you reach the next corner where you will repeat the above step, the continue until you've reached the end.

I learned the leaf stitch from this YouTube video which you might find helpful as well!

Voila! You've made the Ghostface bag!!
